The Valley of Decision

“Now therefore fear the Lord and serve Him in sincerity and in faithfulness. Put away the gods that your fathers served beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. And if it is evil in your sight to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the river, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:14-15

This decision that Joshua places before the people of Israel is not just an Old Testament thing. The choice between serving the Lord and serving other gods, or phrased differently: the choice between serving the Most High or lesser “high (higher than us)” beings, is a since the Garden and until Glory thing.

These gods that were enslaving the nations that surrounded Israel way back then, are still at work. They all took a fatal blow at Christs death and resurrection, but frankly, the subsisting ideas that the gods of the nations were (1) never anything real in the first place, and/or (2) they were done away with entirely at the cross, are two of their greatest weapons against us. In His sovereignty, the Lord is allowing them to remain as long as this Earth does. So, if we’re still here, they are too, and they will not relent from recruiting worshipers for themselves from among men.

I bring this up, not to strike fear in your hearts, but hopefully to strike a match that will light this up for you, Our God IS The MOST HIGH. He is SO much bigger than we can comprehend. In this flesh, we will never fully understand what we cannot see, but in this flesh, we exist in the valley of decision. The choice ever before us is to serve the Lord in sincerity and faithfulness, or to serve the gods of the nations. Serving the Lord in faithfulness means taking His Word as Truth, and His Word says that other gods exist. It also says that He rules over them all, and He has a plan (See Ephesians 1:3-22). To refuse to acknowledge the existence of what we cannot see robs God of the Awe and Wonder that He is due.

“Jesus said to him, ‘Have you believed because you have seen me?

Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed’.” -John 20:29

“for we walk by faith, not by sight.” - 2 Corinthians 5:7

I imagine that here is where some of you decide to stop reading… because this sounds absurd …and you remember that I told you I have no credentials anyway. 😆

BUT do you remember that I also told you to not dismiss me, 😬 and to hold what I have to say up to the light of scripture?

I’m going to take a few posts in a row to do some of that lighting for you.

I’ll also share with you the names and work of some truly credentialed individuals that corroborate what I’m telling you. What I’m trying to say is, stay with me here, because, well… I’m just going to throw this out there …if this is the most bizarre thing you’ve had to consider recently, then you probably haven’t been reading the news.

It’s a weird world out there folks; praise be to God that:

His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence,”

2 Peter 1:3
